About the Role
M54 Studios is an African theatre production company born from a mission to elevate African storytelling across live theatre, film, and digital platforms. From sold-out UK stage productions to the development of a premium streaming platform, M54 builds cultural IP that travels and redefines how African stories reach global audiences. We are currently seeking a talented Hair and Make-up Supervisor to join our vibrant Lagos-based production team and bring our characters to life.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the conceptualization, design, and execution of hair and make-up looks for all performers across stage and screen.
- Maintain strict visual continuity for hair and make-up across rehearsals, technical runs, live performances, and film shoots.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the hair and make-up department, including inventory management and station preparation.
- Collaborate closely with directors, costume designers, and cast members to ensure visual alignment with the overall artistic vision.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise assistant artists and stylists, ensuring high professional standards and timely execution.
- Adapt looks quickly for rapid-change scenarios during live theatre productions.
- Proven professional experience as a Hair and Make-up Artist, Supervisor, or similar role within theatre, film, or television production.
- Exceptional skill in wig styling, hair-laying, special effects make-up, and diverse skin-tone color-matching.
- Strong understanding of continuity management in fast-paced production environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and time-management skills under high-pressure situations.
- A deep appreciation for African cultural aesthetics and storytelling.
- Relevant certification in cosmetology, theatrical make-up, or a related field is an added advantage.
