About the Role
Mikano, a leading power and engineering company in Nigeria, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Generator Site Operator to join our dynamic operations team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the seamless generation and distribution of power by operating, monitoring, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel and gas generators. Key Responsibilities- Operate and monitor diesel or gas generators to ensure an uninterrupted power supply across the designated site.
- Start, stop, and regulate generator systems in accordance with fluctuating operational needs and load capacities.
- Perform routine inspections of generators, fuel levels, oil levels, and cooling systems to prevent downtime.
- Carry out basic preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and component cleaning.
- Detect, diagnose, and troubleshoot technical faults or operational irregularities promptly.
- Maintain accurate daily logs detailing generator operations, fuel consumption, and servicing activities.
- Oversee proper fuel storage and safely manage scheduled refueling processes.
- Respond swiftly to unexpected power outages and restore electricity supply efficiently.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to facilitate major repairs while adhering strictly to environmental regulations.
- B.Sc, HND, OND, or Trade Test certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on professional experience in generator operations and site maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a solid understanding of heavy-duty power generator systems.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond rapidly to emergency outages.
