About the Role
Faith Comprehensive International Secondary School (FACISS), a prestigious co-educational institution with over 29 years of academic and moral excellence in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, is currently seeking a dedicated and hardworking Gardener. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and safety of our expansive school grounds, ensuring a serene and inspiring atmosphere for our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Mow lawns, trim hedges, and prune trees and shrubs regularly to maintain a neat school compound.
- Plant and care for flowers, ornamental plants, and vegetable gardens across the campus.
- Water plants adequately using hoses, sprinkler systems, or watering cans according to seasonal needs.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and weed control solutions safely to protect plant health.
- Clear walkways, pathways, and outdoor recreational areas of fallen leaves, debris, and trash.
- Maintain, clean, and properly store all gardening tools and equipment such as lawnmowers, shears, and rakes.
- Report any landscaping issues, diseased plants, or hazards to the school administration promptly.
- Proven practical experience working as a gardener, groundskeeper, or in a similar landscaping role.
- Basic knowledge of plant care, soil management, and the safe use of gardening chemicals.
- Ability to perform physical outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to property maintenance.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively within a school community.
- Relevant vocational training or a certificate in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field is an added advantage.
