About the Role
The Green Environment and Climate Change Initiative (GRENCHI) is seeking dedicated and energetic individuals to join our team as Field Assistants in Awka. In this role, you will serve as the reliable backbone for our grassroots environmental conservation efforts, climate change initiatives, and community engagement programs across Nigeria. Key Responsibilities- Provide hands-on general field support for assigned daily GRENCHI conservation and agroforestry activities.
- Assist with nursery operations including potting, watering, weeding, site preparation, planting, and maintaining accurate field record sheets.
- Help set up and break down venues for community trainings, workshops, and large-scale events such as the Climate Bootcamp.
- Support attendee registration, materials distribution, and smooth event flow on operational days.
- Assist field officers during monitoring visits by carrying equipment, recording basic site data, and ensuring clear access.
- Transport and handle seedlings, tools, equipment, and event materials safely and responsibly.
- Follow clear directions from supervising field officers and strictly adhere to all on-site safety protocols.
- Maintain punctuality and show up ready to contribute effectively as part of a dynamic team.
- Minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (WAEC, NECO).
- Additional certifications or training in any relevant field will be considered an added advantage.
- Must be at least 18 years of age with valid residency in Awka.
- Physically fit and capable of performing sustained outdoor manual labor.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions carefully, adapt to changing daily tasks, and work collaboratively.
- Strong commitment to reliability, punctuality, and the proper care of organizational equipment.
