About the Role

SNV, a leading international development organization committed to poverty reduction and sustainable development, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Energy Advisor to join our team in Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will champion the integration of renewable energy solutions with a strong focus on productive energy use to enhance value addition and rural livelihoods. Operating with a systems transformation approach, you will act as a key convener, bringing together diverse stakeholders to deliver high-impact energy interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical advisory services to Project Managers, fostering an enabling environment for successful project implementation and stakeholder alignment.
  • Identify and propose technical process improvements while applying lessons learned to daily operations and internal workflows.
  • Analyze market opportunities, build robust local networks, and actively participate in strategic positioning to represent SNV professionally.
  • Develop and nurture effective relationships with donors, team members, and external partners to ensure high project visibility and branding.
  • Collect, consolidate, and review project information in alignment with monitoring and evaluation guidelines, translating insights into actionable policies.
  • Contribute to internal and external knowledge development by thoroughly documenting insights, attending industry workshops, and sharing best practices.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of substantial experience in development work, featuring proven expertise in solar energy, clean cooking solutions, biodigesters, and energy efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian and West African energy sector, market systems development, and energy service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing business cases, introducing innovative energy technologies, and engaging the private sector.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills paired with an entrepreneurial mindset to lead initiatives effectively.
