About the Role
Save the Children is seeking a dedicated and professional Driver to join our team in Yobe. In this role, you will play a vital part in our humanitarian mission by ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of staff, visitors, goods, and documents. You will also provide essential transport support to emergency response teams as needed, contributing directly to our health and child protection initiatives across northern Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Drive Save the Children vehicles safely and punctually to transport passengers, documents, and project cargo in compliance with organizational policies and national traffic laws.
- Perform daily routine vehicle checks including oil, water, fan belt tension, and brake fluid levels before any trip, and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date monthly mileage log sheets and pro-fleet reports in Excel.
- Ensure all vehicle legal documents, such as road licenses and insurances, are valid and renewed in a timely manner.
- Keep vehicles clean, well-maintained, and fully equipped with mandatory accessories including spare tires, jacks, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers.
- Support staff and visitors professionally, assisting with troubleshooting logistics challenges during daily operations.
- Strictly adhere to the Save the Children Child Protection Code of Conduct, security guidelines, and ethical standards at all times.
- Minimum of a Diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
- At least three years of professional driving experience, preferably within an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO).
- Possession of a valid Nigerian driving license (Classes B, C, and D held for at least three years).
- Strong knowledge of local routes, duty stations, and terrain in northern Nigeria.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse teams.
- Willingness to travel frequently to field locations and adapt to challenging working conditions.
