About the Role
Myrtle Management Consultants is partnering with a leading client in the energy sector to recruit a skilled and safety-conscious Derrickman for offshore drilling operations in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting safe, efficient drilling activities, ensuring operational excellence from the rig floor to the derrick.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and monitor derrick equipment, travelling blocks, elevators, and associated machinery.
- Work from the monkey board to safely guide and handle drill pipes and tubulars during operations.
- Monitor, test, and maintain drilling fluid and mud systems to prevent well-control issues.
- Conduct routine inspections of the derrick, pipe-handling systems, and drilling equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping of designated work areas.
- Comply with Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and strict company HSE guidelines.
- Participate actively in emergency response drills, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
- Minimum of SSCE, OND, NABTEB, or a relevant technical certification.
- 2 to 5 years of hands-on drilling-rig experience, including time as an Assistant Derrickman.
- Valid offshore safety certifications such as BOSIET/FOET and a medical fitness certificate.
- Strong working knowledge of tubular handling, mud systems, and well-control operations.
- Ability to work comfortably at great heights and in physically demanding environments.
