About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Surgery Technologist for our headquarters in Ibadan, Nigeria. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering comprehensive oral healthcare services to our staff and community, ensuring high standards of hygiene, patient comfort, and professional clinical support within our medical facility.
Key Responsibilities- Perform basic dental procedures such as scaling and polishing while providing effective preventive dental care.
- Prepare the dental operatory, ensuring all necessary instruments, materials, and equipment are ready before procedures.
- Assist the dentist during treatments utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques and provide support with dental imaging.
- Ensure strict infection control, sterilization of instruments, and compliance with institutional safety and medical protocols.
- Monitor patient comfort, educate individuals on oral hygiene practices, and provide clear post-procedure care instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records, handle appointment scheduling, manage patient flow, and oversee dental inventory supplies.
- Possession of an HND in Dental Surgery Technology or an HND in Dental Technician.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience performing similar clinical functions in a structured organization.
- Strong working knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, instruments, and health and safety protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to maintain patient confidentiality and exhibit professional medical ethics.
