About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cyclotron Radiochemist (Quality Control) to ensure the safety, efficacy, and high quality of radiopharmaceuticals produced at our state-of-the-art facility. Developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital delivering world-class oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Lead comprehensive quality control testing for all produced radiopharmaceuticals, including radiochemical purity, chemical purity, pH, and sterility.
- Manage the QC laboratory to ensure full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and equipment calibration.
- Develop, validate, and implement new QC standard operating procedures (SOPs) for novel PET radiotracers and investigational drugs.
- Support routine synthesis, purification, and production scheduling to effectively meet clinical and research demands.
- Promote strict radiation safety protocols and ensure adherence to local and international regulatory standards.
- Mentor junior radiochemists and collaborate with multidisciplinary medical teams to optimize patient care.
- Master’s or PhD in Chemistry, Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry, Radiopharmacy, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a clinical or research radiopharmaceutical production environment with PET radiotracers.
- Demonstrated expertise in GMP-compliant quality control and advanced analytical techniques like HPLC, TLC, and gamma-ray spectrometry.
- Formal training or certification in GMP and radiopharmacy is strongly preferred.
