About the Role
Notionwave Technologies is a full-fledged solution development and consultancy firm built for organizations whose systems cannot afford to fail. We are currently looking for a motivated Credit Control Officer to join our finance team in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a crucial part in safeguarding the company's financial health by assessing creditworthiness, monitoring customer exposure, and managing debt collection processes with professionalism and integrity.
Key Responsibilities- Verify new customers' legal identity, business registration, trading address, and authorized buyers before granting credit.
- Assess customer creditworthiness using trading history and references to recommend appropriate credit limits in line with company policy.
- Monitor customer exposure, including unpaid receivables and delivered goods, against approved credit limits and payment terms.
- Send proactive payment reminders and statements, and confirm payment commitments on due dates.
- Place overdue accounts on credit hold, follow up persistently, and record clear next steps.
- Prepare structured repayment plans for overdue balances and escalate high-risk accounts to management.
- Reconcile customer accounts in collaboration with the Finance and Sales departments, resolving invoices, returns, and disputes.
- Maintain comprehensive customer credit files and prepare accurate debtor ageing and credit control reports.
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of proven experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or debt collection.
- Prior experience in the FMCG or distribution industry will be a distinct advantage.
- Working knowledge of accounting or ERP software with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and follow-up skills, maintaining a firm yet professional demeanor with clients.
- High level of integrity, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Part-qualification in ICAN, ACCA, or a similar professional accounting body is an added advantage.
