About the Role
British American Tobacco is a leading multinational organisation with a market-leading presence globally, offering an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Legal Counsel in Nigeria. In this dynamic role, you will provide proactive legal advisory to commercial trade and corporate business units across the Sub-Saharan Africa Area, while also acting as Company Secretary to the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal and commercially driven counselling to internal teams to drive strategic business decisions.
- Act as Company Secretary to the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (Limited by Guaranty).
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements to protect company interests.
- Advise on corporate and commercial projects, regulatory audits, tax, excise, and treasury matters.
- Support employment-related matters, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with the Litigation Counsel to effectively manage the litigation portfolio.
- Qualified Lawyer with a minimum of 10 years of post-call experience in commercial and regulatory law.
- Previous experience in a commercial law firm and/or multinational consumer goods or retail business.
- In-depth understanding of legal and regulatory issues within the FMCG or related industries.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
