About the Role
The Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) is seeking a dedicated and qualified Consultant Specialist Grade I in Rheumatology to join our esteemed medical team. With a rich history dating back to 1971, OAUTHC remains committed to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medical research, and training the next generation of healthcare professionals in Nigeria. As a consultant in our rheumatology unit, you will play a pivotal role in diagnosing and treating complex musculoskeletal and autoimmune diseases while upholding the highest standards of medical practice.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative care for patients suffering from rheumatic and autoimmune diseases.
- Supervise, mentor, and train resident doctors, medical students, and other allied healthcare professionals.
- Participate actively in clinical research, departmental meetings, and continuous professional development programs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient management and holistic care.
- Contribute to the administrative duties of the department and uphold institutional policies and safety protocols.
- Possess an MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent primary medical qualification from a recognized institution.
- Hold a postgraduate medical fellowship qualification such as FMCN, FWACP, FWACS, or an equivalent recognized fellowship.
- Must possess a valid, current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Evidence of completion, exemption, or exclusion from the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- Demonstrated clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a strong track record in medical research or academic publishing.
