About the Role
Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) is a premier federal tertiary health institution dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services, advanced medical training, and cutting-edge research. We are currently seeking a highly qualified, dedicated, and experienced medical professional to join our esteemed Paediatrics department as a Consultant Specialist Grade I. In this vital role, you will provide top-tier clinical care to pediatric patients, mentor resident doctors, and contribute to the academic and research excellence that OAUTHC is renowned for across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialized pediatric medical care and consultation services in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings.
- Supervise, train, and mentor medical officers, resident doctors, and medical students.
- Participate actively in department ward rounds, clinic sessions, and multidisciplinary clinical meetings.
- Conduct clinical research and contribute to evidence-based medical practice within the institution.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical ethics, and professional standards of care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive and holistic patient treatment.
- Possession of an MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent primary medical qualification from a recognized institution.
- Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and possession of a current practicing license.
- Evidence of completion, exemption, or exclusion from the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- Must hold a relevant postgraduate medical fellowship, such as the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCN), West African College of Physicians (FWACP), or West African College of Surgeons (FWACS).
- Demonstrated clinical experience and a strong track record in pediatric healthcare delivery and academic research.
- Conditions of service and salary structures are highly competitive, matching those obtainable in the Federal Public Service and Federal Tertiary Health Institutions in Nigeria under the CONMESS salary structure.
