About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an expert Consultant Neurologist to provide comprehensive diagnostics, acute stroke care, and advanced management for a wide range of neurological disorders. Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough clinical assessments and manage complex neurological conditions including stroke, epilepsy, dementia, and movement disorders.
- Perform and interpret neurodiagnostic procedures such as EEGs, nerve conduction studies, and EMGs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Lead acute stroke management protocols, thrombolysis coordination, and neurological emergency interventions.
- Supervise, mentor, and train resident doctors, medical students, and junior healthcare professionals through bedside teaching.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and peer-reviewed research projects to enhance patient outcomes.
- Maintain precise electronic medical records and participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, stroke meetings, and neurorehabilitation conferences.
- Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution with a valid practicing license in Nigeria or eligibility to obtain one.
- Board Certification in Neurology (e.g., FWACP, FMCNA, or equivalent international qualification).
- Minimum of 5 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in a reputable, high-volume hospital setting.
- Proven expertise in neurodiagnostic interpretation, neuroimaging analysis, and adherence to international clinical guidelines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and empathy skills with a demonstrated commitment to medical education and clinical research.
