About the Role

The Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Compliance Lead to join our legal and governance team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this critical role, you will oversee our corporate governance framework, ensuring that all business operations align with applicable laws, regulatory mandates, and internal policies. You will drive proactive compliance strategies, manage regulatory engagements, and support executive leadership with expert insights to safeguard our organizational integrity and foster sustainable growth across our multi-sector operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of corporate governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive company policies, codes of ethics, and compliance manuals in line with industry best practices.
  • Proactively identify regulatory gaps, compliance risks, and emerging legislative issues, providing actionable mitigation strategies to management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory engagement, stakeholder interaction, and statutory filings.
  • Collaborate with the Company Secretary to coordinate board and governance-related processes, including the preparation and documentation of board materials.
  • Drive organizational compliance awareness and conduct training initiatives to foster a strong culture of ethics and accountability.
  • Supervise the compliance team and provide periodic risk reports and insights to senior management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Barrister-at-Law (B.L.) with active qualification to practice law in Nigeria.
  • Master’s degree in Law (LL.M) or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Active membership in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), with ICSAN membership or relevant compliance certifications being highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in legal, compliance, or corporate governance roles, preferably within a large multinational, manufacturing, or energy environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk management, regulatory engagement, statutory compliance, and leadership of compliance functions.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills with an uncompromising commitment to integrity.
