About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja, a premier 500-bed specialty hospital developed by Afreximbank in partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking an expert Colorectal/Colonoscopy Surgeon. In this vital role, you will provide specialized care in the diagnosis and surgical management of complex colorectal diseases, collaborating within a multidisciplinary environment to improve patient outcomes across Africa.
Key Responsibilities- Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies, including polypectomies, mucosal resections, and stricture management.
- Execute complex open and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries for colorectal cancers, inflammatory bowel diseases, and diverticular conditions.
- Manage emergency GI conditions such as obstructions, perforations, and massive lower gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Lead multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, correlating endoscopic findings with advanced imaging and histopathology.
- Participate in clinical research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and mentor junior medical staff and residents.
- Medical Degree (MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completed residency in General Surgery and a recognized Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery.
- Valid medical license and registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Minimum of 7 years of consultant-level experience in Colorectal Surgery post-specialty certification.
- Proven high-volume expertise in therapeutic colonoscopy and advanced laparoscopic resections.
