About the Role
Akwa Ibom State is expanding its public transportation network and is currently seeking reliable and experienced CNG Bus Drivers to join our growing transit team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting passengers safely along designated routes while supporting the state's transition to cleaner, more sustainable energy alternatives in transportation. We are looking for dedicated professionals who prioritize passenger safety, vehicle maintenance, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operate Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses along assigned routes in accordance with state traffic laws and transit schedules.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and CNG system integrity.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers during boarding, transit, and disembarking.
- Collect fares accurately and issue tickets or manage electronic payment validation systems where applicable.
- Report any mechanical faults, accidents, or delays immediately to the transport management team.
- Maintain a clean vehicle interior throughout the shift.
- Minimum of Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).
- Valid commercial driver's license with the appropriate endorsement for heavy-duty passenger vehicles.
- Proven professional driving experience, preferably with mass transit or commercial bus operations.
- Familiarity with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle operations and safety protocols is a strong advantage.
- Good knowledge of Akwa Ibom State roads, routes, and traffic regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal politely with the general public.
