About the Role

Solidarites International is looking for a dedicated Civil Engineer to join our humanitarian mission in Nigeria. In this vital role, you will oversee the operationalization of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure projects, ensuring high-quality execution in compliance with national, international, and donor standards. You will play a key part in mitigating community risks, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and driving sustainable development for vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the multi-year strategy, project design, and financial planning of WASH and construction initiatives.
  • Supervise the timely execution and quality control of water point rehabilitation, earth dams, and climate-smart latrine construction.
  • Lead technical leadership for the EU SOSAN project, including artisan training and community-based infrastructure management.
  • Ensure systematic integration of cross-cutting themes such as environmental protection, public health, and market-based approaches.
  • Manage human resources, conduct performance evaluations, and mentor project field teams and contractors.
  • Contribute to internal and donor reporting, risk mitigation, and security context monitoring.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (BEng or BSc) in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant field experience in WASH infrastructure or rural construction, preferably within an NGO setting in northern Nigeria.
  • Proven expertise in preparing technical designs, bills of quantities, and supervising construction works like boreholes, handpumps, and latrines.
  • Strong proficiency in technical design software such as AutoCAD and cost estimation tools.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa is strictly required; knowledge of local languages in Kebbi State is an added advantage.
