About the Role

M54 Studios is an African theatre production company born from a mission to elevate African storytelling across live theatre, film, and digital platforms. From sold-out UK stage productions to the development of a premium streaming platform, M54 builds cultural IP that travels and redefines how African stories reach global audiences. We are currently seeking a visionary and dynamic Choreographer to join our creative team in Lagos, Nigeria, and help bring our ambitious artistic vision to life through compelling movement and dance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and teach original movement, choreography, and dance sequences for stage and screen productions.
  • Collaborate closely with directors, musical directors, and other creative leads to ensure movement aligns with the overall narrative and artistic vision.
  • Lead rehearsals with cast members of varying skill levels, providing constructive feedback and ensuring safety during physical routines.
  • Adapt choreography to suit different performance spaces, camera angles, and technical requirements.
  • Participate in production meetings and contribute creative ideas to enhance storytelling through physical expression.
Qualifications
  • Proven professional experience as a choreographer in theatre, film, or dance companies, preferably within the African creative industry.
  • Deep understanding of diverse African dance styles, contemporary movement, and theatrical blocking.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to instruct and inspire performers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven creative environment.
  • A relevant degree in Dance, Theatre Arts, Performing Arts, or equivalent practical experience.
