About the Role
Laurels Model College is a prestigious co-educational day and boarding school located at 80 Mini Orlu Road, Rumuopirikom, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Founded in September 2009, we offer a robust hybrid curriculum spanning basic, junior secondary, and senior secondary education, preparing students for esteemed examinations such as WASSCE, SSCE, and IGCSE. We are currently seeking a passionate and qualified Biology Teacher to inspire the next generation of scientific minds and contribute to our tradition of academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and comprehensive Biology lessons aligned with the Nigerian and international curricula (WASSCE, SSCE, and IGCSE).
- Design and supervise practical laboratory experiments to enhance students' empirical understanding of biological concepts.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate academic records.
- Create a stimulating, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
- Collaborate with fellow educators and school administration to develop departmental resources and participate in school co-curricular activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance, behavior, and overall academic development.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree (B.Ed, B.Sc, or B.A) or Master's degree in Biology or a related educational discipline.
- A high GPA from the university will be considered a strong advantage.
- Previous teaching experience in a recognized secondary school setting is highly preferred.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in using digital tools and learning management systems for modern pedagogy.
