About the Role
The Dangote Group is seeking a skilled Backup & Database Administrator to join our enterprise IT team at our operational headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, protection, and operational reliability of enterprise database platforms and backup systems that support our critical business applications, ensuring seamless operations across our multi-industry footprint.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, and maintain enterprise database systems including Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- Design and implement robust enterprise backup strategies, automated jobs, and retention policies to ensure minimal data loss.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, high-availability configurations, and perform regular recovery testing.
- Monitor database performance, optimize queries, and resolve bottlenecks affecting application performance.
- Implement database security policies, access controls, encryption, and compliance controls in collaboration with cybersecurity teams.
- Manage database storage, capacity expansion, data integrity, and support DevOps database deployment pipelines.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5 to 8 years of dedicated working experience in database administration, backup and recovery management, and enterprise data infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Windows Server, and Active Directory.
- Preferred professional certifications include Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator Associate and Commvault Certified Engineer.
