About the Role

Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria seeks an Associate Relationship Manager to play a vital role in supporting and expanding our SME client portfolio. You will drive revenue growth by proactively managing a diverse portfolio of small and medium-sized enterprises across trade finance, deposits, and business banking products. Using data-informed insights and systematic relationship management strategies, you will acquire new business, deepen existing relationships, and retain clients through tailored financial solutions that meet their evolving needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, deepen, and increase penetration of existing SME portfolio accounts while migrating tail clients to qualified segments above USD 300 annual revenue
  • Grow portfolio active clients to 80% or above and drive Straight2Bank (S2B) adoption through structured marketing and relationship strategies
  • Build sustainable banking relationships, increase low-cost deposits, and identify relevant SME products through consultative selling approaches
  • Complete Customer Due Diligence (CDD) documentation and ensure compliance with KYC requirements, AML policies, and FATCA regulations
  • Collaborate with Trade Operations, Treasury, Compliance, and Sales teams to deliver seamless service execution and enhance customer experience
  • Monitor portfolio performance, manage financial crime and sanctions risks, and maintain governance standards within a well-controlled environment
  • Prioritize cash-rich sectors including Trade, Maritime, Oil & Gas, IT, NGOs, Healthcare, and General Commerce

Qualifications
  • Proven banking sector experience, particularly in SME business banking and AML/CDD practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability in customer relationship management and retention
  • Thorough understanding of AML policies, regulatory compliance frameworks, and financial crime risk management
  • Competency in cross-selling banking services and managing diverse customer needs through tailored solutions
  • Knowledge of digital banking products and online platforms for enhanced client engagement
  • Flexibility to adapt to market complexities and willingness to undertake ongoing capability assessments
  • High accountability standards with proficiency in both front-office and back-office banking functions
