About the Role
APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, is seeking a dynamic and driven Assistant Security Manager Operations to join our team in Nigeria. In this role, you will work closely with the Security Manager to develop terminal security strategies, implement continuous-improvement initiatives, and ensure the highest standards of physical security and cargo protection. Key Responsibilities- Support the Security Manager in coordinating terminal-wide security operations and implementing the APMM Global Security Framework and ISPS Code.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities for security personnel and contractors, ensuring adherence to schedules, service standards, and training requirements.
- Proactively identify security threats, incidents, and risk concerns, activating appropriate response mechanisms and timely reporting.
- Perform Alternate Port Facility Security Officer responsibilities and maintain the terminal's ISPS accreditation.
- Manage security communications, Control Room requirements, access control, surveillance, and response coordination.
- Develop and implement operational orders, security plans, procedures, and drills.
- Build effective working relationships with Operations, HSSE, IT, HR, government security agencies, and law enforcement.
- Recognised bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in Security Management, Criminology, Risk Management, Law Enforcement, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in security operations, corporate security, military, maritime, or port security within a high-risk environment.
- Practical knowledge of security risk assessment, incident management, investigations, and access control.
- Strong supervisory skills to lead security personnel and service providers effectively.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills for preparing accurate incident updates, investigations, and management briefings.
