About the Role
Obafemi Awolowo University, a renowned public institution established in 1962 with a rich tradition of academic excellence, is seeking a motivated and qualified Assistant Lecturer in Chemistry to join our vibrant academic community in Ile-Ife, Osun State. We are looking for an enthusiastic scholar with a strong passion for teaching, student mentorship, and chemical research to contribute to our esteemed Faculty of Science.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging undergraduate lectures, seminars, and laboratory practical sessions in various branches of chemistry.
- Conduct high-quality research, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to the academic reputation of the university.
- Assess student assignments, examinations, and laboratory reports while providing constructive academic feedback.
- Supervise undergraduate student research projects and provide academic counseling.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
- Engage in community service and institutional advancement initiatives aligned with the university's mission.
- A good honours Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
- A relevant Master’s degree from a recognized institution, with a Ph.D. currently in progress.
- Demonstrated evidence of strong teaching potential and active research capability.
- Relevant professional registration with recognized chemical bodies where applicable.
