About the Role
Mainland Group Limited, a leader in the Nigerian shipping and maritime industry, is seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and supporting strategic decision-making through comprehensive reporting. Key Responsibilities- Manage daily finance and accounting operations, including accounts receivable and payable.
- Administer payment transfers and manage cash advances and retirements.
- Prepare and audit bank reconciliation statements for all corporate accounts.
- Maintain the non-current assets register and process depreciation, additions, and disposals.
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss reports.
- Ensure the accuracy of accounting entries and strict compliance with internal controls.
- Review purchase orders and payment vouchers for completed jobs.
- Prepare receivables aging reports and advise management on proactive follow-up actions.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local tax and financial regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACA is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage or QuickBooks, alongside strong MS Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
