About the Role
Masters Ville Children School, a foremost Montessori institution in Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Yoruba Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching Yoruba language and culture to children across our Pre-school and Elementary sections, fostering a love for indigenous language learning while promoting strong communication skills.
Since 2004, Masters Ville Children School has provided first-class Montessori education to children from 3 months to 11 years, and we continue to build a team of qualified, enthusiastic educators committed to holistic child development.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Yoruba language lessons in line with the school curriculum
- Teach Yoruba vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and oral communication skills to pre-school and elementary pupils
- Create a classroom environment that promotes cultural appreciation and language proficiency
- Develop and use age-appropriate teaching aids, materials, and ICT tools to enhance learning
- Assess and monitor pupils' progress through tests, assignments, and continuous evaluation
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate Yoruba language activities into school events and extracurricular programmes
- Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, attendance, and student performance
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding pupils' progress and areas for improvement
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and school development programmes
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all pupils
- Minimum of NCE (NCE, B.Ed., B.Sc./B.A. with PGDE or equivalent) in Yoruba or related field
- Relevant teaching experience in a reputable school, preferably at pre-school or elementary level
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
- Fluency in spoken and written Yoruba with strong grasp of grammar and culture
- ICT compliant with the ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction
