About the Role
SPIE Oil & Gas Services is seeking a highly experienced WHP Engineering Lead to join its team in Nigeria, supporting the delivery of a critical Wellhead Platform (WHP) package from contract award through to operations. This role offers the opportunity to lead engineering governance and technical delivery on a major oil and gas project, working alongside a globally recognized provider of technical expertise to the industry.
Reporting to the WHP Package Manager, the Engineering Lead will be accountable for engineering governance, technical quality, and design integrity throughout the EPCC contract lifecycle. This position requires a strong balance of technical expertise, project management acumen, and HSE leadership to ensure right-first-time execution, minimize rework, and support safe, on-schedule delivery through to start-up and operations.
Key Responsibilities- Support the WHP Package Manager during EPC and LLI Calls for Tender, leading technical preparation and engineering inputs including FEED reviews, specifications, data sheets, and scope definitions up to RTA
- Ensure engineering readiness and maturity of the WHP package at RTA, resolving key technical risks and aligning engineering assumptions with project schedule and execution strategy
- Provide engineering input into proforma EPC and LLI contracts, ensuring clear and consistent technical scopes, specifications, and interfaces
- Support identification of required engineering support contracts, including specialist installation engineering and design verification services
- Contribute to engineering organization planning, resource identification, and mobilization strategy for the EPC execution phase
- Support the IMA Project Management team in achieving overall Project FID by ensuring engineering robustness and executability
- Lead all engineering activities for the WHP package post-FID, ensuring technical quality, compliance, and contractual alignment
- Manage engineering resources and specialist support within project constraints to meet delivery priorities
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs supporting procurement, fabrication, installation, and HUC, including resolution of technical queries and deviations
- Demonstrate exemplary H3SE leadership, promoting safety-by-design and ensuring compliance with Company Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Anti-Corruption policies
- Ensure engineering personnel are competent, trained, and aware of their HSE responsibilities
- Minimum 10 years of professional engineering experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project and project management within the oil and gas industry
- Strong engineering analysis and technical judgement capabilities
- Proven experience in interface management across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong risk awareness and ability to make sound technical decisions
- Excellent negotiation skills, particularly in vendor and contractor management
- Solid understanding of EPCC contract execution, procurement, and HUC processes
- Strong commitment to H3SE leadership and safety-by-design principles
