About the Role
Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the esteemed position of University Librarian. As a Principal Officer and academic staff member, the successful candidate will report directly to the Vice-Chancellor and assume full responsibility for the administration and coordination of the University Library system across all campuses.
Key Responsibilities- Providing comprehensive academic and administrative leadership to all staff within the University Library system.
- Overseeing the day-to-day administration and strategic planning of the Main Library and campus-affiliated libraries.
- Coordinating modern library services to support teaching, learning, and groundbreaking research across the institution.
- Advising the Vice-Chancellor and University management on critical library and information resource matters.
- Driving digital transformation initiatives to align the library with 21st-century global educational standards.
- A good honours degree alongside a minimum of a Master Degree in Library Science from a recognized university.
- Possession of a Doctorate Degree in Library Science or a related field will be a distinct added advantage.
- A robust academic portfolio comprising at least twenty-four (24) scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of cognate experience in a recognized tertiary institution, with at least five (5) years served as a Deputy University Librarian or Associate Professor of Library Science.
- Demonstrated ICT compliance and a strong understanding of modern university library roles in the global digital era.
- Impeccable integrity, excellent leadership qualities, and the ability to command respect within the academic community.
- The successful candidate shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years, renewable for a second and final term of five (5) years.
- Entitled to competitive salary structures and conditions of service applicable to principal officers in Nigerian public universities as approved by the KWASU Governing Council.
