About the Role
Acmecare Montessori Academy, a reputable private co-educational day school in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Social Sciences Teacher to join its academic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils understand society, culture, civics, and the environment through engaging, age-appropriate teaching methods.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured Social Sciences lessons in line with the approved curriculum
- Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and critical thinking
- Assess, monitor, and record pupils' progress, providing constructive feedback to learners and parents
- Develop and utilize teaching aids, projects, and activities that make social science concepts relatable and easy to understand
- Maintain discipline and foster positive behaviour in line with the school's values and code of conduct
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and the academic team to align teaching strategies and improve learning outcomes
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils at all times within the school environment
- M.Sc, B.Ed, or B.Sc (PGDE) in Social Sciences, Education, or a related field
- 3–5 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably at the primary school level
- Strong knowledge of primary school curriculum standards and pedagogical best practices
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for early childhood and primary education
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for lesson planning and record-keeping
