About the Role
Alaro City is a mixed-income, city-scale development featuring designated areas for offices, logistics and warehousing, homes, schools, healthcare facilities, hotels, entertainment, and 150 hectares of parks and open spaces. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sewage Treatment Plant Operator to oversee the maintenance, repairs, and efficient functioning of our advanced sewerage and treatment infrastructure. In this vital role, you will ensure safe operations across our sewage treatment plant systems, sewer reticulation lines, pumps, stabilization ponds, and lifting stations while strictly complying with environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake new connections, re-connections, and minor pipeline extensions
- Operate, monitor, and superintend control systems and related equipment according to specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Perform routine maintenance of sewerage infrastructure as per the established schedule
- Record and maintain accurate operational data, and provide insightful, timely reports and memos
- Repair malfunctions, leaks, and breakages on piping systems, and install, secure, weld, assemble, and lubricate moving parts
- Measure and cut pipes accurately for new construction and ongoing maintenance projects
- Operate treatment systems to ensure optimal working condition and compliance with certification standards
- Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions using thorough mechanical knowledge
- Ensure full compliance with all environmental and safety regulations while promoting workplace safety practices
- Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping across the Sewage Treatment Plant premises
- Higher National Diploma (HND), Technical College Degree, or undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering (Water), Environmental Science, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of proven working experience in industrial-scale sewage treatment
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical designs, and engineering drawings
- Hands-on experience in machinery operation and preventive maintenance of complex sewerage systems
- Proficiency in MS Excel and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety guidelines for handling dangerous chemicals and heavy machinery
