About the Role
FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization dedicated to improving lives globally through sustainable, locally driven solutions. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Technical Advisor - Laboratory Services to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will provide strategic and technical leadership to strengthen laboratory systems and services under the HIV, TB, and Malaria program through the Technical Quality Leadership and Accountability (TQLA) support mechanism, ensuring alignment with national policies, WHO guidelines, and donor requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic technical oversight and guidance for laboratory components of HIV, TB, and Malaria programs across designated project states.
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS) and support ISO 15189 accreditation readiness.
- Strengthen diagnostic networks, specimen transportation, equipment management, supply chains, and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Build the institutional capacity of indigenous prime partners through mentoring, competency assessments, and targeted training curricula.
- Collaborate closely with Federal and State Ministries of Health, national public health laboratories, and key stakeholders to drive data-informed decision-making.
Master's degree in medical laboratory sciences with over 12 years of relevant experience, or a Doctorate degree with a minimum of 11 years of experience.
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience supporting HIV, TB, and/or Malaria laboratory programs in resource-limited settings.
- Valid certification/license to practice as a medical laboratory scientist in Nigeria.
- Proven expertise in implementing QMS, ISO 15189 standards, and donor-funded projects (PEPFAR, Global Fund, CDC).
- Strong leadership, training, and interpersonal skills with the ability to travel domestically up to 45% of the time.
