About the Role
FairMoney is a leading digital platform in Nigeria that provides instant loans and financial services through our Android app to millions of customers. We are currently looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer (Identity) to join our dynamic team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this critical role, you will build and scale the core systems that everything else depends on, including identity verification, KYC, authentication, payments, transactions, and mobile app workflows. Key Responsibilities- Lead complex technical projects end-to-end, covering system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Build and maintain reliable, distributed systems backing payments, ledgers, and mobile app APIs for a rapidly growing customer base.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Risk, and Compliance teams to seamlessly turn regulatory requirements into simple, secure software solutions.
- Integrate modern AI coding agents, such as Claude Code, into daily workflows to increase throughput and accelerate safe software delivery.
- Contribute to architecture, rigorous engineering standards, and code reviews while providing mentorship to other engineers on the team.
- Minimum of 3+ years of backend engineering experience with a solid foundation in system design, distributed systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated professional experience working in Identity, KYC, fraud prevention, authentication, or related domains within financial services.
- Proficiency in Go or Ruby, or deep backend experience in another language with a strong willingness to transition to Go.
- Strong product mindset with a dedication to best-in-class user experience and proactive problem-solving.
