About the Role
FairMoney is a leading digital financial platform in Nigeria, empowering millions of customers with instant access to loans, payments, and modern banking services through our mobile application. We are looking for an ambitious and driven Senior Software Engineer (Identity) to join our engineering hub in Abuja. In this pivotal role, you will build the core distributed systems that power identity verification, KYC, authentication, and transaction flows, ensuring high security and seamless user experiences across multiple markets.
Key Responsibilities- Take full ownership of complex technical projects end-to-end, from architectural system design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Scale robust backend systems backing payments, ledgers, and mobile app APIs, ensuring high reliability and security for millions of active users.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Risk, and Compliance teams to translate complex regulatory requirements into simple, secure, and efficient software solutions.
- Leverage modern AI coding tools and agents, such as Claude Code, within your daily workflow to accelerate development cycles and ship safely.
- Contribute to overarching architectural standards, participate in code reviews, and mentor other engineers on the team.
- Minimum of 3 years of backend engineering experience with a strong foundation in system design, distributed systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated professional experience working within Identity, KYC, fraud detection, authentication, or related financial services domains.
- Proficiency in Go or Ruby, or deep backend expertise in another language with a strong willingness to transition to Go.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, AWS cloud infrastructure, and modern developer tooling including GitHub.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and LLM-assisted development workflows to boost productivity.
