About the Role
HBM Nigeria Plc (Formerly Lafarge), a leading building solutions company and member of the LafargeHolcim group, is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Sample Preparation Technician to join our operations in Akamkpa, Cross River. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining our high product standards by ensuring the prompt collection and precise preparation of representative samples in compliance with our rigorous quality control plans.
Key Responsibilities- Comply strictly with all safety rules, procedures, and company policies, utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Execute the sampling and preparation of all raw materials—both quarried and received—in strict adherence to the Quality Control Plan.
- Sample delivered fuels to the quarry and plant to maintain compliance with the zero-water tolerance regime.
- Perform simple routine maintenance on all equipment within the Sample Preparation Lab and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Update and preserve all test records in both hard copy and electronic formats.
- Collaborate with and support maintenance teams during corrective and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain and update inventories for relevant spares, materials, and instruments, reporting stock levels regularly to the Quality Coordinator.
- Execute non-routine and special sampling activities as requested by Chemists, the Quality Coordinator, or the Quality Manager.
- Possession of a Trade Test certificate or an approved equivalent qualification.
- Proven familiarity with standard laboratory procedures and proficiency in material sampling and sample preparation.
