About the Role
SPIE Oil & Gas Services is looking for a seasoned Risk Management Specialist to join its Nigerian operations, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding project performance across exploration, production, refining, and petrochemical activities. This position offers the opportunity to work at the heart of major project coordination, ensuring risks are identified early and mitigated effectively across the asset lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Represent PPM in coordination activities between Major Projects and other entities, including planning, drilling, and FOPs work programs
- Act as focal point for aligning priorities with internal clients such as QA, Engineering, HSE, C&P, FOPS, Drilling, and Tech Log
- Interface with stakeholders to support prompt execution during critical project phases
- Follow up on issues arising from coordination meetings and propose effective mitigation solutions
- Identify project-related risks and develop mitigation and recovery measures
- Design and track KPIs related to project risk exposure and burndown trends
- Conduct risk assessments and develop robust contingency plans
- Support project managers in implementing comprehensive risk management plans
- Maintain accurate documentation of risk management processes and outcomes
- Support internal/external audits, PJC reviews, QA/QC processes, and methodology improvements
- Use Project Definition Rating Index (PR2) to identify milestones, LDs, and scope changes
- Ensure project KPIs account for potential risks and opportunities
- Leverage data-driven insights from risk assessments to inform performance strategies
- Proactively analyze lookaheads to respond to emerging threats and uncertainties
- Balance risk-taking with long-term objectives to enable faster, informed decisions
- Support projects in improving processes, procedures, and lessons learned
- Share feedback and benchmarks with local contractors, Onetech, and PJC for continuous improvement
- Demonstrate strong HSE leadership, ensuring compliance with HSE rules and prompt incident reporting
- Apply safety-by-design principles to identify and mitigate HSE risks in engineering decisions
- Ensure engineering teams are trained, competent, and aware of HSE responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SAP, Primavera P6 (Monte Carlo), and Safran
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience with a strong oil and gas technical background in onshore, offshore, and deep offshore operations
- PMBOK, PMP, Kaizen, and/or Lean Management certification is an added advantage
