About the Role

Tetra Maritime is a leading Nigerian ship owner and operator, providing comprehensive and tailor-made solutions across the oil and gas supply chain, including upstream, midstream, and downstream. We are looking for a quantitatively minded analyst to help scale our market intelligence and decision-making capabilities across tanker and dry bulk markets. This role sits at the intersection of data, markets, and strategy—focusing on identifying mispricing, improving market timing, and strengthening risk and performance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and extend our live terminal of S&P and TC-in/out opportunities while pressure-testing breakeven, valuation, and forward-curve assumptions.
  • Co-develop probabilistic forecasting models to anticipate peaks and troughs in core markets like TD20, TD25, and TD3.
  • Quantify fleet exposure under various market scenarios and evaluate TC-in/TC-out strategies and derivatives overlays.
  • Measure decision outcomes on a like-for-like basis to distinguish between decision quality and market-driven results.
  • Curate proprietary datasets and leverage AI-assisted coding tools like Copilot and Claude Code to accelerate output.
Qualifications
  • Strong grounding in regression, time-series analysis, probability, and machine learning with a degree in statistics, econometrics, or finance.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a markets-focused analytical role such as shipping research, commodities trading, or fund analytics.
  • Working proficiency in Python and SQL with the ability to read, modify, and deploy analytical code.
  • Demonstrated builder mindset with comfort in iterating quickly from hypothesis to prototype.
  • Prior background or strong interest in global shipping markets, brokerage, or maritime consultancy.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary package commensurate with industry standards and experience.
  • Opportunities for professional growth within a leading Nigerian maritime company.
  • Access to cutting-edge AI coding tools and proprietary datasets.
  • Collaborative work environment at the intersection of energy, data, and global trade.
