About the Role
Proten International is recruiting a dynamic and experienced Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC) Specialist on behalf of our client operating in the thriving Food & Beverages and Export sector. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining uncompromising standards of product quality, food safety, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive operational excellence, ensure strict regulatory compliance, and safeguard consumer health within a fast-paced export-focused environment based in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct product sampling, testing, sensory evaluation, and routine quality inspections across all production and processing stages.
- Ensure strict compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards including HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and organic certification requirements.
- Manage internal audits, traceability records, quality documentation, and ensure continuous audit readiness.
- Identify physical, chemical, and biological hazards while implementing robust quality control measures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive QHSE policies, procedures, and workplace safety programmes.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and quality deviations to execute effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct staff training, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes focusing on food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety.
- Liaise professionally with external laboratories, research institutions, regulatory agencies, and government officials.
- Degree or Diploma in Quality Engineering, Food Science/Technology, Food Chemistry, Microbiology, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant quality assurance and control experience, preferably in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Mandatory professional experience in the Food & Beverages, Export, or Herbs & Spices industry, with specific knowledge of the hibiscus export business being an added advantage.
- Recognized professional certifications in QA/QC or process improvement such as TQM, Six Sigma, Lean, HACCP, ISO 22000, or ASQ.
- HSE-related certifications such as NEBOSH, ISPON Level 3, CSP, OSHA 30-Hour, IOSH, ISO 45001, or ISO 14001 are highly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in English and fluency in Hausa is required for this role.
