About the Role

SPIE Oil & Gas Services is looking for a highly experienced PLR Design Engineer to join its Nigerian operations, supporting critical pipeline engineering activities across the full project lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to work with a global leader in Oil & Gas technical services, contributing hands-on expertise to complex offshore and onshore pipeline projects from FEED close-out through installation and pre-commissioning.

As a PLR Design Engineer, you will play a central role in reviewing, coordinating, and validating pipeline design and installation deliverables, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, industry standards, and project schedules. You will act as the Company's technical representative on pipeline matters, liaising closely with EPC contractors, vendors, and third-party specialists to safeguard technical integrity and project readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support review and consolidation of offshore pipeline design basis, specifications, and technical requisitions for FEED close-out, CFT and RTA.
  • Contribute to pipeline route selection, shore approach definition, crossing philosophy, and geotechnical/geophysical data review.
  • Support preparation of EPC/LLI tender documents and review contractor technical proposals, deviations and qualifications.
  • Follow up pipeline design activities including wall thickness, on-bottom stability, free-span/VIV, buckling, expansion and coating design.
  • Support installation engineering, including lay tension, stinger configuration, abandonment/recovery and weather limitations.
  • Ensure design maturity ahead of procurement, fabrication, welding qualification, coating, load-out and installation.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, construction, installation and pre-commissioning, resolving site queries and non-conformances.
  • Report engineering progress, risks and key decisions to the SURF Package Manager and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability and installation readiness reviews, HAZID/HAZOP and risk workshops.
  • Manage pipeline interfaces with subsea structures, risers, tie-ins, shore approach and onshore facilities.
  • Champion H3SE compliance, ethics, and the Company's Anti-Corruption Program across all work activities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in pipeline engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in project and project management roles.
  • Proven expertise in offshore/onshore pipeline design and installation.
  • Strong background in contractor management and technical oversight of EPC deliverables.
  • Solid understanding of H3SE standards and industry compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
