About the Role
Masters Ville Children School (MVCS), a foremost Montessori institution in Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos, is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Phonics and Literacy Teacher to join our dedicated academic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills among our young learners, using proven phonics-based teaching methods within a nurturing and structured classroom environment.
As a Phonics and Literacy Teacher, you will work closely with the Elementary and Preschool teams to design engaging lessons that build a solid foundation in literacy, ensuring each child progresses confidently through age-appropriate reading and language milestones.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver structured phonics and literacy lessons tailored to different age groups.
- Develop pupils’ reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension skills using effective phonics strategies.
- Create a stimulating, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation.
- Monitor, assess, and track pupils’ literacy progress, providing timely feedback to parents and school management.
- Integrate ICT tools and multimedia resources to enhance classroom instruction and engagement.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and the curriculum team to align lesson plans with the school’s Montessori-based educational philosophy.
- Identify pupils who may require additional literacy support and design intervention strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, assessments, and pupil performance.
- Participate in school events, training sessions, and extracurricular literacy-related activities.
- Minimum of NCE (NCE, B.Ed., B.Sc./B.A. with PGDE or equivalent).
- Proven teaching experience in a reputable school, preferably in early years or elementary literacy instruction.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Strong ICT proficiency with the ability to integrate technology into classroom teaching.
