About the Role
APM Terminals, a world-leading port and terminal operator with facilities across 39 countries, is recruiting a Mobile Equipment Mechanic for our Nigerian operations. Key Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repairs, and modifications on reach stackers, empty handlers, forklifts, trucks, and related mobile equipment
- Diagnose equipment breakdowns and execute corrective repairs to minimise downtime and maximise operational availability
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance in compliance with OEM standards and safety regulations
- Address defects identified through inspection reports and examiner defect lists
- Complete work orders, confirmation slips, and maintenance records with precision
- Adhere to HSSE standards, safe working procedures, and housekeeping requirements
- Support 24-hour terminal operations through shift and standby duties
- ND, HND, BSc, or Trade Test in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 3–5 years' proven experience as a mechanic in ports, mines, steel, or manufacturing sectors
- Demonstrable experience with mobile equipment including reach stackers and empty handlers
- Basic electrical knowledge with ability to interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings
- Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement
- Availability for shift work and emergency repairs
- Hands-on experience maintaining mission-critical container-handling equipment
