About the Role
APM Terminals, a world-leading port and terminal operator with a global network spanning 39 countries, is recruiting an MHC Maintenance Supervisor for our Nigerian operations. You will plan, coordinate, and supervise comprehensive maintenance activities for Mobile Harbour Cranes to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient container operations across our terminal.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of Mobile Harbour Cranes, spreaders, and auxiliary systems
- Ensure compliance with OEM standards, statutory requirements, and terminal procedures
- Prioritize and close defects from statutory inspections and examiner reports
- Provide planning input on manpower, spare parts, tools, and task sequencing to minimize downtime
- Lead and supervise crane technicians, electricians, and mechanics with effective task allocation
- Analyze equipment breakdowns and perform root-cause analysis to implement corrective actions
- Track maintenance KPIs including availability, MTBF, MTTR, and PM/CM ratios
- Enforce HSE standards, including toolbox talks and Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Coordinate with OEMs and external service providers for complex interventions
- Manage spare parts inventory and criticality assessments
- Maintain accurate maintenance records within CMMS platforms
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives including RCM practices and Kaizen activities
- HND or Bachelor's degree (B.Eng.) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years' supervisory maintenance experience
- Strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems with ability to read technical drawings
- Proficiency in Siemens PLC systems, STEP 7 SIMATIC Manager, and SINAMICS drives
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing maintenance programs
- Knowledge of spare parts criticality management and asset maintenance planning
- Understanding of applicable safety regulations in terminal and port operations
- Proven ability to coach and mentor technical team members
- Experience with CMMS platforms (IFS, SAP PM, or similar)
