About the Role
Raphael the Archangel Catholic Specialist Hospital, in partnership with MELSW Limited, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our growing 50-bed healthcare facility located in Olago, Edumoga, Okpokwu LGA, Benue State. In this vital role, you will play a crucial part in delivering accurate diagnostic services, maintaining rigorous quality control standards, and supporting optimal patient care outcomes within our community hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate daily laboratory activities and maintain strict quality assurance protocols.
- Perform comprehensive investigations across clinical chemistry, haematology, microbiology, parasitology, and serology.
- Support specialized procedures including haemoglobin electrophoresis, blood grouping, and compatibility testing.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain modern laboratory analysers while managing accurate records and inventory supplies.
- Supervise, mentor, and train laboratory support staff to ensure operational excellence.
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Full registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) and a current practising licence.
- Minimum of five (5) years of post-registration clinical laboratory experience in a hospital setting.
- Demonstrated practical experience with laboratory analysers, advanced microscopy, electrophoresis, and blood transfusion procedures.
- Willingness to reside in Olago or surrounding areas within Benue State.
- Prior experience with Mindray BS-230 or BA-88A analysers, laboratory setup, or staff training will be considered a strong advantage.
