About the Role
MTN Nigeria, Africa's leading cellular telecommunications company, is looking for a strategic and innovative Manager for FTTH Core Network Planning. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and optimizing MTN's FTTH Core data and voice network architecture to ensure a cost-effective, resilient, and high-performing infrastructure. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive network evolution, cloud deployment, and advanced Fixed Broadband services that support our expansive rollout plans.
Key Responsibilities- Direct the design, planning, and optimization of MTNN's FTTH Core (Data & Voice) Network architecture and topology.
- Lead cloud deployment, virtualization, SDN, and modern technologies to upgrade legacy core networks.
- Manage capacity expansion by analyzing traffic trends, forecasting growth, and performing network dimensioning.
- Direct activities for architectural service design and efficient delivery of FTTH core platforms including BRAS/BNG, IMS, and AAA nodes.
- Design network architecture, specify solutions, and implement data policies for QoS, charging rates, and fair usage.
- Mentor and guide FTTH Core Network engineers to achieve key performance indicators and maintain high technical standards.
- Monitor departmental budgets and align network strategies with overarching business growth objectives.
- First degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 6 to 13 years of total professional experience, with at least 4 years specifically in the telecommunications industry focusing on FTTH Core network planning and design.
- Demonstrated expertise using BRAS/BNG, AAA, DNS, CDN, and advanced FTTH platforms (GPON, XG-PON, XGS-PON, etc.).
- Solid understanding of Cloud infrastructure platforms, 4G/5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) planning, and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) design.
- Proficiency in TCP/IP routing, switching, and statistical modeling using advanced analytics tools.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills with fluency in English.
