About the Role
Acmecare Montessori Academy, a reputable private co-educational day school in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Literature Teacher to join its academic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in nurturing pupils' appreciation for literature, language, and creative expression within a structured and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Literature lessons in line with the school's curriculum standards.
- Foster a love for reading, storytelling, and creative writing among pupils.
- Develop lesson plans, teaching aids, and assessments that enhance comprehension and analytical skills.
- Monitor and evaluate pupils' academic progress through tests, assignments, and continuous assessments.
- Encourage class participation through discussions, debates, and literary activities.
- Maintain accurate records of students' performance and attendance.
- Collaborate with other teachers and departments to ensure a well-rounded educational experience.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and extracurricular literary activities such as debates, drama, and reading clubs.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding students' progress and development.
- Uphold the school's values, discipline standards, and code of conduct at all times.
- M.Sc, B.Ed, or B.Sc with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
- 3–5 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably at the primary or basic education level.
- Strong command of English Language and Literature-in-English.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
- Creative approach to lesson delivery with the ability to inspire young learners.
- Proficiency in the use of teaching aids and basic computer applications.
- Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is an added advantage.
