About the Role
Stratos Trading Limited is a premier global commodity trading and marine fuel supply company headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, with an expanding operational footprint across West Africa. We specialize in the export and delivery of refined petroleum products, marine bunkering, and international petroleum trade. We are currently looking for a dedicated Legal Associate to join our dynamic team as our sole in-house legal professional, offering robust legal guidance, managing contracts, and mitigating commercial risks.
Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial, vendor, chartering, crewing, procurement, and project agreements.
- Maintain comprehensive corporate records, statutory documents, and coordinate CAC filings with external advisers.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements affecting petroleum trading, marine operations, and terminal development.
- Manage contractual disputes, debt recovery, and commercial claims while coordinating external legal counsel.
- Develop standard legal documentation, approval processes, and robust internal controls to protect company assets.
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L).
- Demonstrated experience in commercial law, contract negotiation, and corporate governance within the energy or maritime sector.
- Strong working knowledge of Nigerian regulatory frameworks and petroleum industry compliance.
- Exceptional legal research, drafting, and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to work independently as an in-house legal counsel and manage external advisers effectively.
