About the Role
Oilserv Limited, a leading provider of integrated engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) services across the onshore, offshore, and subsea segments of the oil and gas industry, is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Cost Estimator to join its estimating team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to develop expertise in cost estimation, quantity takeoffs, and procurement support while working alongside experienced senior estimators on high-impact construction projects.
As a Junior Cost Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting the preparation of accurate and timely project cost estimates. Working under the guidance of senior estimators, you will assist in analyzing project specifications, drawings, and related documentation to help ensure that clients receive competitive and well-informed estimates that support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Assist senior estimators in analyzing project specifications, drawings, and documents to support cost estimate development.
- Perform quantity takeoffs by reviewing project documentation and calculating material, equipment, and labor requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing, prepare requests for quotes (RFQs), and evaluate bids for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Support cost analysis efforts, including verifying cost data, comparing estimates to historical benchmarks, and identifying value engineering opportunities.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to assist in preparing cost estimates and proposals.
- Maintain accurate records of estimating activities, project documents, and cost data, and assist in preparing reports for stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with the estimating team, project managers, and engineers to ensure accuracy and consistency in estimates.
- Stay current with industry trends, construction methods, and estimating techniques through continuous learning and professional development.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in cost estimating, preferably within construction or oil and gas industries.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical plans, drawings, proposals, and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and industry-standard estimating software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
