About the Role
Sundry Markets Limited, the growing force behind Marketsquare, Nigeria’s premier modern grocery retail chain, is seeking detail-oriented and experienced Internal Auditors to join our expanding team. In this role, you will play a vital part in safeguarding company assets, testing internal controls, and ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple store locations including Abuja, Lagos, Owerri, Benin, Onitsha, Awka, Asaba, Warri, Akure, and Mowe.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct continuous risk assessments to identify potential exposures and develop robust mitigation work plans.
- Review internal controls, operational policies, and procedures for effectiveness and monitor departmental compliance.
- Monitor inventory flows, participate in regular stock counts, and verify valuation accuracy to minimize shrinkage.
- Coordinate loss prevention strategies and advise management on retail best practices.
- Draft detailed audit reports, recommend actionable improvements, and follow up on implementation with relevant teams.
- Collaborate with the accounting department during external audits and verify high-risk goods and vendor invoices.
- Minimum of a B.Sc. or HND in Accountancy or a related discipline.
- At least 4 years of proven professional experience in internal auditing, risk management, or a similar retail environment.
- Must possess an NYSC Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion certificate.
- ICAN certification is strongly preferred and considered an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of auditing standards, internal controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.
