About the Role

SPIE Oil & Gas Services is seeking a highly experienced Instrument Engineer to act as the technical authority for instrumentation, control, metering, and safeguarding systems on a major upstream project. This role is critical to ensuring the technical integrity, safety, and performance of instrumentation systems across all phases of project execution, from engineering design through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as COMPANY's focal point and technical authority for instrumentation, control, metering, and safeguarding systems on the IMA Project
  • Review, comment on, and approve EPC Contractors' instrumentation engineering deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with TotalEnergies Referential, IEC, API, ISO, and ATEX standards
  • Review and validate P&IDs, Instrument Index, Datasheets, Control Philosophies, Cause and Effect Matrices, Hook-up Diagrams, Cables Schedules, Junction Box Schedules, and Loop Diagrams
  • Ensure consistency between process requirements and instrument design
  • Verify adequate instrumentation for wellhead platforms, including pressure/temperature monitoring, flow measurement, ESD, sand detection, and F&G detection
  • Ensure adequate safeguarding for brownfield equipment
  • Liaise with metering specialists on fiscal and operational metering systems
  • Review and validate PLC, ESD, SCADA, RTU systems, and HMI configurations
  • Verify Safety Instrumented Systems compliance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511
  • Review Fire and Gas system design for wellhead platforms and brownfield packages
  • Review instrumentation for pipeline monitoring, leak detection, and pigging operations
  • Support commissioning activities including calibration, loop checking, and functional testing
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL Assessments, Alarm Management, and Constructability Reviews
  • Lead weekly instrumentation meetings with EPC Contractors and report to Technical and Project Managers
  • Demonstrate HSE leadership and embed safety-by-design principles across engineering decisions

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in instrumentation and controls engineering within Oil and Gas EPC Projects
  • Strong knowledge of IEC 61508, IEC 61511, API, ISO, and ATEX standards
  • Proven experience with Safety Instrumented Systems, F&G systems, and SCADA/PLC configurations
  • Demonstrated project management culture and ability to work with multidisciplinary EPC teams
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
