About the Role
Join Dangote Group, Africa's leading business conglomerate, as an Import and Clearing Officer. You will manage comprehensive importation and customs clearing processes, ensuring seamless operations while maintaining strict compliance with Nigerian regulatory requirements. This pivotal role bridges customs authorities, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver goods efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate end-to-end importation activities from shipment initiation through final delivery
- Prepare, review, and manage import documentation including Form M, PAAR, Bills of Lading, invoices, and regulatory documents
- Liaison with customs authorities, shipping companies, freight forwarders, and regulatory bodies such as NAFDAC and SON
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian customs regulations and government policies
- Track shipments and provide stakeholders with regular progress updates
- Resolve clearing issues, delays, and discrepancies proactively
- Manage duty payments and optimize clearing operation costs
- Maintain accurate records of all import transactions
- Coordinate transportation and delivery to designated company locations
- Monitor and evaluate clearing agent and service provider performance
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5-7 years' relevant experience in importation, clearing, or logistics operations
- Professional certifications such as CISCP or CILT (advantageous)
- Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly SAP (advantageous)
- Strong knowledge of customs procedures and import documentation requirements
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and professional integrity
- Strong relationship management and stakeholder coordination skills
