About the Role
Dabitos Schools, a reputable private co-educational institution in Ilasamaja, Mushin, Lagos, is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to join its academic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons in subjects such as History, Government, Social Studies, and Religious Studies, while fostering critical thinking and a love for learning among students at various levels.
This role is ideal for an experienced educator who is passionate about shaping young minds and contributing to a nurturing academic environment that spans from crèche through secondary school.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured lessons in Humanities subjects in line with the school curriculum
- Develop lesson plans, teaching aids, and assessment materials that promote student engagement and understanding
- Evaluate and monitor students’ academic progress through tests, assignments, and continuous assessments
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and respect for diverse perspectives
- Integrate current events and real-world examples to make lessons relatable and impactful
- Collaborate with colleagues and school management to enhance the overall academic program
- Maintain accurate records of students’ performance and attendance
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required
- Provide guidance and support to students to help them achieve their academic and personal goals
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related Humanities field
- Teaching qualification or certification (e.g., NCE, PGDE) is an added advantage
- Proven experience teaching Humanities subjects at the primary or secondary school level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent classroom management and organizational abilities
- Passion for education and commitment to student development
- Proficiency in the use of digital tools for teaching and assessment is a plus
